Cloud recording is automatically enabled for all paid subscribers. When you are recording a meeting and choose Record to the Cloud, the video, audio, and chat text are recording in the Zoom Cloud. The recording files can then be downloaded to a computer or streamed from a browser via HTML5 or Flash. To manage your recorded meetings or share a recording with others, log into your account and navigate to the My Recordings page.

  • A Cloud Recording add-on subscription plan

Enabling Cloud Recording

Types of Cloud Recording Files

You can configure the types of files that you would like to save with cloud recording, whether you enable it at an account, group, or user level.

  • Record active speaker with shared screen Receive an MP4 file with audio and video showing both Active Speaker view and shared content in side-by-side view. Learn more about Active Speaker view.
  • Record gallery view with shared screen Receive an MP4 file with audio and video showing both Gallery view and shared content in side-by-side view. Learn more about Gallery View.
  • Record active speaker, gallery view and shared screen separately:  Receive separate MP4 files with audio and video showing each individual view and the shared content in side-by-side view.  
    Note:  By selecting this file type for cloud recordings, Side-by-Side mode for Cloud Recording Playback will be enabled when viewing a recording playback from the web. 
  • Audio Only:  Receive an M4A file with a recording of the audio only.
  • Chat Text:  Receive a Txt file with the transcript of chats within the meeting.

Additional Cloud Recording Options

  • Add Timestamp to recording:  Check this option to add a timestamp of the meeting to your cloud recordings. The time will display in the host's timezone, set on their Zoom profile
  • Record Thumbnails when sharingCheck this option to include a thumbnail of the active speaker when screen sharing. Gallery View recordings will only include a thumbnail of the active speaker during screen share. It will not record multiple participants during a screen share. 
  • Optimize the recording for 3rd party video editorCheck this option to generate your cloud recording video files with a standard format that is compatible with 3rd party video editors. This may increase file size. 
  • Audio Transcript: Check this option to automatically transcribe your cloud recordings.Learn more.

To enable cloud recording for all members of your organization:

  1. Sign into the Zoom web portal as an administrator with the privilege to edit Account settings, and click Account Settings.
  2. Navigate to the Recording tab and verify that the Cloud Recording setting is enabled. 
    Note:  If the setting is disabled, click the Status toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, choose Turn On to verify the change.

  3. (Optional) If you want to make this setting mandatory for all users in your account, click the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

Notes

  • This will allow Pro users to enable Cloud Recording for their meetings.
  • Account Owners and Admins can disable the download feature for recordings on the account by turning off the Cloud recording downloads on the Account Settings page. 

 

To enable cloud recording for all members of a specific group:

  1. Sign into the Zoom web portal as an administrator with the privilege to edit User groups, and click Group Management.
  2. Click the Group Name, then click the Settings tab.
  3. Navigate to the Recording tab and verify that the Cloud recording setting is enabled. 
    Notes:
    • If the setting is disabled, click the Status toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, choose Turn On to verify the change.
    • If the option is grayed out, it has been locked at the Account level and will need to be changed.

  4. (Optional) If you want to make this setting mandatory for all users in this group, click the lock icon, and then click Lock to confirm the setting.

To enable cloud recording for your own use:

  1. Sign into the Zoom web portal and click My Meeting Settings, if you are an account administrator OR click Meeting Settingsif you are an account member.
  2. Navigate to the Recording tab and verify that the Cloud Recording setting is enabled. 
    Notes: 
    • If the setting is disabled, click the Status toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, choose Turn On to verify the change.
    • If the option is grayed out, it has been locked and must be changed at either the Group or Account level.  Contact your Zoom administrator for assistance.

Starting a Cloud Recording

To record a meeting to the cloud:

  1. Start a meeting.
  2. Click the Record button in the Zoom toolbar.
  3. Select Record to the Cloud to begin recording.

  4. To stop recording, click Pause/Stop Recording or End Meeting.

    NoteOnce the recording has been stopped, the recording must be processed before viewing. Zoom will send an email to the host email address when the process is completed.

Viewing Cloud Recordings

  1. Access your recorded meeting by logging into your Zoom account and navigating to My Recordings.
    Note:  If your meeting has not finished converting, the recording will show in the list and you will see a message of "Processing Recording...".  Once the recording has finished converting, you will be able to view, share, download or delete your cloud recording.
  2. Click the meeting Topic to display the available file types of the recorded data, based on the settings you have enabled:
    • Shared screen with speaker view:  MP4 file with audio and video showing both Active Speaker View and shared content.
    • Shared screen with gallery view:  MP4 file with audio and video showing both Gallery view and shared content in side-by-side view.
    • Active Speaker:  MP4 file with audio and video showing the active speaker view only.
    • Gallery View:  MP4 file with audio and video showing the gallery view only.
    • Shared Screen:  MP4 file with audio and video showing the shared screen only.
    • Audio only:  M4A file with a recording of the audio
    • Audio transcript: VTT file with a transcript of the audio only
    • Chat file:  Text file with the transcript of chats within the meeting
  3. Click a file to play the recording or see the text of the chat. You can also download a file to your computer, share a link of the recording with others, or delete a file. 
  4. (Optional) If you want to trim the recording of a shared video so that it starts and ends at the times you specify, you can set a playback range. See Cloud Recording Playback for details.

Protecting Cloud Recordings

If you wish to limit the access to download/viewing your cloud recording, you can password protect the recording.

  1. Locate the meeting Topic on your My Recordings page.
  2. Click the Share link next to the recording you wish to password protect.  This will open the Share this cloud recording window.
  3. Enable Password protect by toggling the status button, enter the password you wish to use and click Save.
